Brainspotting Phase 1 – Dr. Susan Pinco, PhD, LCSW

Brainspotting Phase 1

September 21-23, 2022 Time: 9am-6pm ET

Brainspotting (BPS) is a powerful, brain-based, treatment modality that bridges the gap between mind and body. Focusing on identifying the physical correlates of a client’s issues, it then provides an anchor that grounds the patient while simultaneously stimulating an incredible associative process that leads to the processing and release of the core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation, performance anxiety and an array of other challenging symptoms. BSP is an open, integrative model that invites therapists to make use of their prior trainings and practice. wisdom.

Seminar Overview

This seminar will teach you to utilize your client’s field of vision to locate eye positions that correlate to inner neural and emotional experience. Once located, these eye positions or Brainspots, through eye fixation, lead to a healing of issues deeply held in the sub-cortical, non-verbal, non-cognitive areas of the brain. You will learn how to combine focused activation and focused mindfulness to accomplish a full, comprehensive discharge of activation held in the brain and body. The seminar will also cover the BSP Resource Model for working clients with high levels of dissociation and attachment issues.

Brainspotting works by identifying, processing and releasing core neurophysiological sources of emotional/body pain, trauma, dissociation and a variety of challenging symptoms. It is simultaneous a form of diagnosis and treatment, enhanced with BioLateral sound, which is deep, direct, powerful yet focused and containing. Brainspotting identifies activated eye positions designated as Brainspots. Located through either one or both eyes, Brainspots are observed from either the “Inside Window” of the clients felt sense and/or the “Outside Window” of the clients’ reflexive responses (i.e., blink, eye twitches or wobbles, pupil dilation, quick breaths and subtle body shifts). Students will first learn the phenomenological approach that underpins strategies for Brainspotting, including the dual attunement model, followed by strategies for identifying and processing Brainspots. Attention will be given to the utilization and integration of Brainspotting into your ongoing treatment with clients.

Brainspotting is an excellent addition to training in somatic experiencing, EMDR, Focusing, Hypnosis and other modalities as well as a powerful tool itself.

We hope that you will join us and learn more about how Brainspotting can help you to enable your patients to quickly and effectively focus and process through the deep brain sources of many emotional, somatic and performance problems.
