Personal Statement

I am a bilingual, licensed mental health counselor and a certified rehabilitation counselor, with 28 years of experience in the field of mental health as a therapist. I am an empathic listener and a good problem-solver whose focus is on helping clients address real world issues in an effective and timely manner.

I form supportive relationships and typically use a holistic approach that builds a person's understanding, insight and improves self-awareness. I often focus on improving interpersonal relationships and capacity for conflict resolution. I primarily use a Cognitive Behavior Therapy approach but I add yoga, meditation, breath, and aromatherapy depending on the case. I have seen how these techniques can lead to improved self-confidence, more effective problem-solving, and greater emotional independence. The resulting gains in inner strength lead to a happier and more fulfilled life.

As a bilingual Spanish-speaking therapist, I have had substantial experience working with clients who may be addressing cultural and emotional adjustment issues. I work with the gamut of age groups - children, adults, couples, and families, including prenatal and postnatal care.

I enjoy my work with people and continue to learn about the issues and problems people face in their lives from my patients.
