I have a deep conviction about the power of relationships to facilitate the healing process in psychotherapy. After 32 years of experience in the private practice of psychotherapy and after many years of teaching and supervising therapists of all ages, it is clear to me that the relationship with the therapist is the most important factor in people being able to lead more fulfilling lives. I pay very close attention your needs and feelings in the therapeutic process and I may bring your attention to and help you think about the parts of you that you may not have been aware of in relationships in your life. Since I have spent many years in my work helping people deal with the aftermath of trauma I am particularly sensitive to feelings that are difficult to tolerate. Together we will work to help you feel stronger and more capable of dealing with these overwhelming and confusing feelings.
I am currently the Director of a training institute in White Plains that trains therapists with graduate degrees who want to deepen their understanding of the therapeutic process. I also have many years of experience providing supervision to therapists. In my practice I have worked extensively with people dealing with all kinds of addictions, work with sexually abused men and couple's work with couples where one partner has been traumatized in childhood. I have also worked with men and women dealing with eating issues of bingeing and purging. I also have a particular interest in working with people struggling with socioeconomic class issues. Because I myself grew up in a Jewish working class environment I am particularly sensitive to the loss and confusion that can result when people have moved or are trying to move up the economic ladder. I also enjoy working with people from diverse backgrounds.
I would be happy to speak with you about how I may be of help to you.
