Personal Statement

I became interested in psychotherapy following experiences working with victims of political violence in Chile and El Salvador, during which time I listened to some of the most painful stories of torture and oppression. I have never stopped listening. I consider it a privilege to listen to the lives of others as they navigate transitions, relationships, and challenges. My personal experience with a learning difference has led me to specialize in helping young adults who learn differently, to adapt to the complex social and professional challenges of the adult world. I have found that a therapeutic relationship in which one feels truly listened to and understood, can have a profound impact on improving one's life and happiness.
