Personal Statement

I believe in the individual's unique experience. Psychological theories can help us understand ourselves up to a certain point, but ultimately we have to write our own story. I try to be as open minded as possible and not to presume anything about my clients. I believe in diversity of thought, feelings and experience and encourage my clients to embrace their uniqueness rather than pressure themselves to conform. I try to provide a nonjudgmental environment in which clients can explore their struggles, make changes or accept themselves for who they are. Coming from an immigrant/multicultural background I pay special attention to the cultural context. I speak Hebrew fluently and I have experience in treating Hebrew-speaking clients as well as other immigrants and first generation Americans. I have a musical background that predisposes me to approaching the treatment process in a creative way. Finally, Although I am informed by psychoanalytical theories, my approach is eclectic in that my involvement and active role in the process varies according to clients needs.
