Personal Statement:

My analytical training has been extensive in traditional and contemporary theory and practice. I count my experiences as a world traveler and my deep appreciation of the arts and of nature, as valuable dimensions to my work with patients. I have now been in private practice for twenty years on the upper west side. I work with people from various social, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. My involvement arises from an abiding interest
in people, how they have developed, how they relate to themselves and others, and how they meet the situations they confront; I am deeply interested in how people see their own experience. I believe it critical that the relationship between patient and therapist be trusting and respectful.
Empathetic and skillful listening are part of what I bring to my therapeutic work. My ability to choose among various modalities can be crucial to analytic success. I believe in the patients I work with.
