Grieving my Patient's Friend

As Galit Atlas writes, love needs a witness, especially when loss is involved. This is a short piece about how we all need witnesses in our grieving process for the people we love. Sometimes those witnesses are therapists. But as therapists, we too get attached to not just our patients but people in our patient's lives. This essay opens up the idea that the grieving that goes on in therapy affects not just our patients but ourselves as we witness our patient's losses.
